materials. I didn't get very far. I got stuck on trying

horizontal mirror reference for a transit instrument in the early
days.
The stuff was discovered during rewiring in the 80's. The interesting
thing was that mercury levels in the air were astonishingly small
(that was until they disturbed it to get it out). The metallic mercury
had pooled in low spots and formed a transparent oxide coat with a
thick layer of compacted dust on top.
