They can burst if too much current is used. The process is very
inefficient anyway. The electrochemical reactions are not entirely
reversible. Expect leakage.

Not electrical leakage, either, but the innards oozing out (if you're lucky).
What does the side of the battery say? In spite of the opinion most of us
probably have, instructions are not always just for kids and old ladies. |
