I know that you can use salt to decrease the aqueous solubility of
organic solutes, but does it also affect the partition coefficient? I
assume that you would promote solubility in the organic phase as you
decrease the solubility in the aqueous phase, but I haven't found this
explicitly stated anywhere. Can anyone point me to a reference? |

The partition coefficients and distribution coefficient |
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partition_coefficient#Partition_coefficient_and_log_P)will
change if the solubility of the substance in either solvent
changes. |
